We at Rockers In Recovery were lucky enough to have some very special artists such as Ricky Byrd formerly of Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, long time Aerosmith friend Richie Supa, and Kasim Sulton of Todd Rundgren who performed as our last band of the night. Their performance was outstanding!! Everyone in the crowd was singing along and enjoying the moment.
I was able to meet all of the bands. They were all pleased with the turn out and they were having a blast giving back what was freely given to them RECOVERY from addiction.

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Ricky Byrd’s new CD which he describes as “one part acoustic soul, one part rock n roll” -marks quite a departure from his days with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Byrd is still rail-thin, still has the haystack of hair and a truckload of attitude, but maturity has served to deepen and expand his talent. Byrd says that the work on his latest project with producer Ray Kennedy “is a natural progression. I went back to the college of musical knowledge, listening to the songs that still, to this day, raise the hair on my arms. Digging deep, trying to find the secret ingredient, studying the craft of songwriting. Now I feel like I’ve got a pretty cool batch of my own songs and I’m ready to show them to the world.”
Billboard described Byrd’s last effort, a limited edition live CD called, with typical Byrd-esque humor, “Tough Room This World”: For many, Ricky Byrd needs no introduction. For others, a brief step back in time may be needed. After…Byrd parted ways with the Blackhearts (he) found himself collaborating with the likes of Roger Daltrey (and) Ian Hunter.
Apparently, others discovered what Jett had known all along: Byrd is one accomplished musician, singer and songwriter.” In fact, Jett and Daltrey (on his solo release “Rocks In The Head”) are among the many artists who have cut covers of Byrd’s material he’s had over 45 of his songs recorded by others — and his music has also been featured on television and in films.
Download Ricky Byrd’s new single “Broken Is A Place” to a CD and bring it with you to the The Memorial Day Weekend Free Concert Saturday May 28, 2011. Ricky will signing the downloaded CD’s at 6:30 PM EST.

Rockers In Recovery received a letter that made us proud to see that our message is making a difference.
A gentleman Daniel W. who is in a Broward County Correctional Facility Life Skills Program wrote to Rockers In Recovery regarding our Radio Show and two very powerful songs we play. He explained how the inmates who are struggling with addiction listen to our radio show on 1470 AM daily. When they are not in AA/NA meetings the group of men get together and listen to Rockers In Recovery.
He said the two songs that they all can relate to are “Last House on the Block” by Richie Supa and “Broken Is A Place” by Ricky Byrd.
He gave us a little information on the group recovery program he is a part of and stated that it is a 30 day program which when their 30 days are up another 65 men come in. He believes these two songs are motivational and asked if we could assist him with getting them onto a CD and mailing it to the Facilities Specialist.
We are planning on getting that CD burnt for them this week and we want to thank all of the men working on themselves one day at a time at the Life Skills Program for their desire to do something different with their lives.
From all of us at Rockers In Recovery you are in our prayers and we look forward to hearing great things from all of you upon your release.

Click To Join The Ricky Byrd Facebook Fan Page Rockers In Recovery Host John Hollis said during his interview with Ricky Byrd “Folks I just listened to the mastered version of the song it went right to the heart and had us all in tears. “Broken Is A Place” will touch many people and help many people find a new way of life”. “Broken Is A Place”- the new song written by Ricky Byrd/Richie Supa ,Co produced by Ricky Byrd/Bob Stander, Drums: Shawn Murray, Bass: Bob Stander, Guitars: Ricky Byrd Vocals: Ricky Byrd, Keyboards: Richie Supa, Mixed: Bob Stander, Mastered: Ray Kennedy in Nashville. “Broken Is A Place” is a must for any download collection. Ricky went to a place only one who has been there can write about and though this song can let others know change is possible.
Ricky Byrd Bio: Lotta dues Jim, Lotta dues That’s a line from a play about Lenny Bruce, and man oh man ain’t that the truth!! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining! I’ve had an unbelievable career so far and I’m very grateful. Imagine a 13 year old sitting in his bedroom with his first guitar that “almost” stays in tune. He’s dreaming big dreams, hoping someday……you know the rest! Well I got my wish. I’ve traveled the world with Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, had a couple of hit records and played guitar for two of my favorites–Roger Daltrey and Ian Hunter. I’ve also had the damn good fortune to have shared a stage with everyone from Jimmy Page, Leslie West, Steve Marriott to Rufus Thomas (I got to “Walk the Dog”) I’ve had artists who I love and respect cover songs I’ve written ,and even got to decorate a wall in Byrdland with a few gold and platinum records. Nice huh? Problem is I’m not the kind that can rest on my laurels (you know how painful that can be!). This is now and now I’m a solo artist–playing my songs, making my music and fighting my battles! To be honest I’m feeling a little punchy from all the fighting. But I promise you this…they’’ll have to carry me out of the ring still swingin’ and still singin’. Let’s face it the music business (what’s left of it) is not for the faint of heart. it can break your spirit and leave you bitter.”It was you Charlie…you shoulda watched out for me. I coulda been a contender!” Sorry, I had a Brando moment!. Anyway as the saying goes… you buttered your bread now you gotta sleep in it…or something like that. Where was I? Oh yeah These days I have no illusions or expectations other than making the coolest music I can and have fun doing it. So keep your eyes and ears open cause sooner or later I’ll be coming to your town. It might be a stadium,a theatre,a club or maybe even a coffeehouse, but you can bet the farm I’ll have a big ass grin on my face and be happy to be there. Artist of the Day – Ricky Byrd by Holistic Lifestyles Radio on Apr.20, 2011, under Home
Rockers In Recovery Host John Hollis said during his interview with Ricky Byrd “Folks I just listened to the mastered version of the song it went right to the heart and had us all in tears. “Broken Is A Place” will touch many people and help many people find a new way of life”. “Broken Is A Place”- the new song written by Ricky Byrd/Richie Supa, Co-produced by Ricky Byrd/Bob Stander, Drums: Shawn Murray, Bass: Bob Stander, Guitars: Ricky Byrd Vocals: Ricky Byrd, Keyboards: Richie Supa, Mixed: Bob Stander, Mastered: Ray Kennedy in Nashville. Singer-songwriter-guitaristRicky Byrd’s new CD which he describes as “one part acoustic soul, one part rock n roll” -marks quite a departure from his days with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Byrd is still rail-thin, still has the haystack of hair and a truckload of attitude, but maturity has served to deepen and expand his talent. Byrd says that the work on his latest project with producer Ray Kennedy “is a natural progression. Digging deep, trying to find the secret ingredient, studying the craft of songwriting. Now I feel like I’ve got a pretty cool batch of my own songs and I’m ready to show them to the world.”

April 3, 2011 at 7 PM EST on Rockers In Recovery we will be interviewing Sandra Huffman on WWNN AM 1470 and her walk for recovery scheduled to start in June 2011. Sandra will tell us how this vision began and how she is working to save lives along the way from Ft. Lauderdale to Washington DC.
Help Sandra Huffman sow a trail of mustard seeds to cultivate messages of hope, healing, and recovery to victims of Addiction/Abuse and Homelessness. “Sandra’s Walk” will begin on June 4, 2011 on the Fort Lauderdale beach. I plan to arrive in Washington, D.C. by September 2011 to participate in DC-based Recovery Month. Then on to activities such as PRO-ACT’s Recovery Walks in my Hometown of Royersford & Philadelphia plus surrounding areas during the entire month.
Sandra Huffman a Recovering Addict will bewalking 1300 miles from Fort Lauderdale to Washington DC and then to Philadelphia to Celebrate National Recovery Month and Sandra’s 5 yrs of being Clean and Sober’’.
August 19th 1981 Sandraran away from The Meridian Home for Girls in Royersford Pa to the Streets of Fort Lauderdale FL. June 4th 2011 with 5 years of being sober she will be Walking Home. Yes, most of the walk will have much to do with the Homeless; we are collecting the Hygiene Care Packages and will distribute them along the way. But sad to say that most of the people they will be reaching out to will be Abused Men, Women and Families of Alcoholics & Addicts. Sandra’s message is of Faith, Hope and Healing.
Sandra and the Mustard Seeds of Hope Necklaces:

These are just a few of several different “Intuitive Inspirations” I have received while creating these 100% by hand….There are many more and you just don’t know what message you will get when you order.
I Believe in my Heart that you should not pick & choose just trust that the one you are sent is meant for you or whomever you are buying it for. When doing this in person I hold several in my hand and have someone pick a random cord…They usually end up crying when they read what it said…I hear a lot of Thank You’s but the messages do not come from me as I pray on each one as I am turning it over & over in my hand thinking of the person that may receive it…
So pick and choose if you like but think about taking that leap of Faith and just GOING FOR IT.$13.00 including shipping gives you one to keep and the other gets a tag that says “Please accept this gift from-”Your name”. She/He has faith in you” and it will be given to someone in one of the shelters we are stopping at on our way to D.C and then on to Philadelphia”.How to donate though Mustard Seed necklace
